Last Summer, Chaos Code, a new 2D fighting game from Sega was released in arcades all over Japan. Now, according to Andriasang and Gemaga, the game will be getting a home console port. Gemaga apparently saw the console conversion on display at a Sony Computer Entertainment booth at an event in Taiwan today. Supposedly, the game will be ready to come to Japanese households sometime this year. There is no word on an international release just yet.
Virtua Fighter is widely regarded as the most balanced and technical fighting game ever created, and the latest revision, Final Showdown, is no exception. With old favorites such as Akira Yuki and Sarah Bryant returning along side new faces such as Jean Kujo -- not to mention numerous changes to the entire roster -- there is plenty to look forward to with the latest revision of this long running series.
If you're a die-hard fan of Virtua Fighter or new to the game and simply looking to see what makes it such an amazing fighter, you wont want to miss this.
Aris from Avoiding the Puddle made a short tutorial on how the new Just Guard feature works. Basically, you tap the block button when an attack is about to hit your character, resulting in advantage for your character. Aris calls Just Guard a similar feature to that of parries in Third Strike or Just Defend in Garou Mark of the Wolves.
Aris over at Avoiding the Puddle discovered a new piece of tech in Soul Calibur V on day -2. By holding guard and tapping up (instead of holding up) your character will begin his jump animation but will not actually leave the ground. During that entire time your character is in a guard state and will block any moves that come in contact with him. However, if your opponent throws any low move (normal or special) the game will detect it and force your character to jump, successfully avoiding the low attack. This makes many mix-ups in the game easily avoidable, as long as you can get the tapping down.
Many of you may remember a similar glitch in the arcade version of Soul Calibur II that was eventually patched out of the game. Will Namco-Bandai patch it out of Soul Calibur V as well?
